Take the step and express your creativity in one of SHY RABBIT’s very popular workshops in 2010.

Space is still available in introductory ceramic and printmaking classes, ranging from two-day to five-week courses.

Online registration is currently available for all workshops.

WORK-shops @ SHY RABBIT are held in one of two comfortable and spacious 1,000 square-foot mixed media studios, and are instructed by professional artist and ceramist D. Michael Coffee. 

Workshops currently scheduled for 2010 include:

Basic Ceramic Techniques and Hand-Building I-(Introductory)

January 23 and 24, 10 4: p.m. Course fee: $215.

This two-day introductory workshop focuses on hand forming, texturing, and assembling clay, all without the use of a potter’s wheel or other equipment. Students are introduced to coil, pinch, and slab methods of construction, preparing them for continuing work in ceramics if desired.

Ceramics from the Potter’s Wheel I–(Introductory)

This course runs five consecutive Wednesday evenings, Jan.27–Feb. 24, 5:30–7:30 p.m. Course fee: $275. Glazing date to be determined.

Open studio time is also included in the course fee.

This five-week introductory course is designed for novice and experienced potters alike. Participants will learn the concepts of wedging, centering, opening, pulling and shaping forms, trimming and finishing, and glazing.

Printmaking without a Press I–(Introductory)

March 13 and 14, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Course fee: $215.

This two-day introductory workshop utilizes a unique hand-pressed printing process called “Reductive Ink”™, designed and developed by D. Michael Coffee.

Printmaking without a Press is high in content and uses inexpensive, low-tech materials that can be easily used in a home studio environment. It is designed for those with or without printmaking experience.

Workshop fees include all necessary course materials. Ceramic workshop fees also include a toolkit that participants may keep for future use.

SHY RABBIT Contemporary Arts; Gallery, Studio & Workshops is located at 333 Bastille Drive; two blocks north of U.S. 160, off of North Pagosa Boulevard. The 4,000 square-foot arts facility houses a ceramic studio and fine art gallery, two mixed-media workshops, and two large exhibition spaces.
