Marguerite E. Flick, 83, of Winfield, Kans., died Nov. 25, 2009, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Services were Monday at the First United Methodist Church. Inurnment was private.
Memorials are to Winfield High School or the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization. Marguerite was herself a two-time breast cancer survivor.
Marguerite was born Sept. 21, 1926, in Newton, to Ross and Maria Overstreet. She attended public schools in Newton and graduated from Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha.
Marguerite married William J. Flick Jr. on Sept. 24, 1950, in Newton.
She was a life-long secondary English teacher, teaching both junior and senior college-bound English courses at Winfield High School her entire adult life. She also taught drama and directed many school plays for Winfield High School. Marguerite retired from teaching in 1991.
Following her retirement from teaching, she and Bill moved to Pagosa Springs, Colo., and Farmington, N.M. They returned to Winfield in 2007.
Marguerite was a member and participant in Winfield Community Theatre for many years. She was a founding member of Chapter HK, PEO Sisterhood and held many offices in the organization.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Flick, of Winfield; a daughter and son-in-law, Kris and Craig Dewell, Hays; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Debbie Flick, Durango, Colo.; and grandchildren, Ryan Dewell, and wife, Jessica, North Bend, Wash., Matt Dewell, and wife, Lindsey, Olathe, and Mary and Ross Flick, Durango, Colo.
