Sing-along coming this winter

Please continue to watch Artsline for more information about a new fund-raiser being planned by the Pagosa Springs Arts Council — coming in January.

PMH-PSAC exhibit

We’ve had five works sponsored to date and are still seeking additional sponsorships, so drop by the Pagosa Mountain Hospital to view the work that is hanging and consider sponsoring a piece for the permanent art collection.

We would like to thank all of the participating artists and extend a special thank you to all of our donors.

To sponsor an artwork, please contact: Roxanne Schick, administrative coordinator, Pagosa Springs Arts Council 264-5020 or Linda Echterhoff, Pagosa Springs Arts Council board president, 946-3693.

Creations “From Our Hands”

We sincerely thank everyone who participated in our Nov. 21 ornament-making workshops that created ornaments for the Pagosa Springs Arts Council’s “From Our Hands” tree for this year’s Festival of Trees.

We had such tremendous fun creating and conversing with all of you. Many thanks to Linda Echterhoff, Sueyel Grace, Allison Westfall, Ben Qualls and Carol Schneider for teaching us how to make our own unique, handmade ornaments.

We also want to extend a very special thanks to Allison and Ben of Pagosa Pottery for hosting the workshops.

We hope you join us on Dec. 4 at the community center’s Festival of Trees benefit fund-raiser to see our tree decked out in all its glittering color.

Beading with Baldwin

The next PSAC Workshop is Beading with Elizabeth Claire Baldwin and will be held on Dec. 5 from 1-4 p.m. in the Arts and Crafts Room of the community center.

The cost is $35, plus materials, and you can call PSAC at 264-5020 to register for the class.

Photo Club

The Pagosa Springs Photography Club will meet Wednesday evening, Dec. 9, for an outdoor night photo shoot. We will meet at 4 p.m. at the parking lot on U.S. 160 across from the Springs Resort and we will do a night phonograph of the Christmas lights at the resort. We will have night shooting information if you did not get it at the last meeting. You may also join us at 6:30 p.m. for photo critiquing and business meeting in the Arts and Crafts Room at the community center.

Monthly photo theme exhibit is held during each club meeting. The two categories are the theme category and the open category where any subject is allowed. This month’s theme is “close up photography”. Members may enter as many as three prints or digital images, but no more than two in either category. President T.J. Reynolds will lead the critique of photos. This will be done as a group rather than have specific judges.

The Photography Club meets the second Wednesday of each month during the club year from September through May at 6 p.m. interested photography enthusiasts are welcome to attend at no charge for the first meeting. Any and all are invited to join for annual dues of $20 for single individuals and $30 for family membership. For more information, contact T.J. Reynolds at rmp1950@msn.com or 731-9581.

Plein Air Painters

This fun group meets at 10 a.m. on the third Thursday of the month at a predetermined location.

Painters who work in any media are welcome. This group offers a wonderful opportunity for artists and art enthusiasts alike to share tips, ideas and resources.

If the weather is nice, the group paints outdoors. If the weather is bad, the group paints in the community center Arts and Crafts Room. Please keep in mind that turpentine-based painting materials cannot be used in the center. Please call Jean Shah 264-0188, if you need more information.

Town Park Gallery

The PSAC Gallery in Town Park is now closed for the winter. Although the gallery will not be staffed on a regular basis, voice mail and e-mail will be checked regularly, so please leave a message and someone will get back to you as soon as possible.

You can e-mail us at psac@centurytel.net or leave a message at 264-5020. Also be sure to visit our Web site at www.pagosa-arts.com for additional information.
