Plans in the works for PSAC 2010 season

The 2010 Pagosa springs Arts Councils planning session took place Friday, Nov. 13.

We have a full lineup of workshops planned for our upcoming season, so please continue to watch the Artsline for the complete list.

Our exhibits will be comprised of the yearly Advanced High School Art Students, an All Members Exhibit, (featuring artwork exclusively created by our PSAC membership), the seventh annual Juried Art Exhibit, an All Things Horse Exhibit, a Fabric Weaving/Felting/Textile Exhibit, a show by the Photo Club, and Denny, Ginnie and The Gang.

Art sponsors needed

The juried art exhibit will continue to hang at Pagosa Mountain Hospital through Dec. 11.

We encourage anyone who is interested to consider becoming a sponsor and to purchase one or more of the unsponsored art works on display for donation to the permanent art collection at the Pagosa Mountain Hospital and Clinic.

You, as a sponsor, will be recognized for your sponsorship through media attention, as well as with a plaque, if you desire.

Town Park Gallery

The PSAC Gallery in Town Park is now closed for the winter. Although the gallery will not be staffed on a regular basis, voice mail and e-mail will be checked regularly, so please leave a message and someone will get back to you as soon as possible.

Photo Club

The Pagosa Springs Photo Club meets at 6 p.m. the second Wednesday of each month during the club year, from September through May. Interested photography enthusiasts are welcome to attend at no charge for the first meeting. Any and all are invited to join for annual dues of $20 for single individuals and $30 for family membership.

Plein Air Painters

We are proud to be the parent organization for Plein Air Painters! This fun group meets at 10 a.m. on the third Thursday of the month at a predetermined location. Painters who work in any media are welcome. This group offers a wonderful opportunity for artists and art enthusiasts alike to share tips, ideas and resources.  If the weather is nice, the group paints outdoors. If the weather is bad, the group paints in the community center Arts and Crafts Room. Please keep in mind that turpentine-based painting materials cannot be used in the center. Workshop calendar

The Pagosa Springs Arts Council sponsors and manages workshops in the Arts and Crafts Room at the Ross Aragon Community Center. From the outset, the Arts Council has been a partner and supporter of the center. Call PSAC at 264-5020 to register for any of the classes. Pre-registration is required.

The next PSAC Workshop is Beading with Elizabeth Claire Baldwin on Dec. 5. The cost is $35, plus materials.

Our members are our organization’s lifeblood, and we always welcome new and renewed members!

Started in 1988 the Pagosa Springs Arts Council, a non-profit organization, was conceived and developed to, in part, promote the awareness of the vast array of local artistic talent, provide educational and cultural activities in the community, sponsor exhibits and workshops by local and regional , and encourage and support continued appreciation and preservation of the aesthetic beauty of Pagosa Springs.

Membership rates are: Youth — $10; Individual Senior — $20; Individual Regular — $25; Family Senior — $25; Family Regular — $35; Business — $75; Patron — $250; Benefactor — $500, Director — $1,000 and Guarantor — $2,500 and up.
