The people of Archuleta County are extraordinarily generous.
In 2008 the Salvation Army anticipated that the number of Red Kettle donations would be fewer than in previous years, due to the state of our declining economy. However, due to the incredible generosity of our local community, we nearly matched our 2007 donation figures.
This kind of charity is a reflection of the heart of those who give. Salvation Army, along with all the other non-profits in Pagosa Springs, will attest to the fact that the residents of this community understand the concept of paying blessings forward. Your willingness to give in this manner is what sustains those whom Salvation Army serves.
In 2009, to date, Salvation Army has given assistance to 141 families in Archuleta County. This number is roughly 50 percent above the 2008 average. In addition to our individual family giving, $3,000 has been donated to Operation Helping Hand to be spent on Thanksgiving meals, $1,000 has been donated to John Paul II Parish for the Winter Coats project, and funds were raised through a special “School Bells” campaign, which provided $1,387 worth of school supplies for our local school children.
The 2009 Red Kettle Bell Ringing campaign will take place Sunday, Nov. 22, through Thursday, Dec. 24. As in the past, your support is greatly needed and much appreciated. ?
We can always use extra volunteer bell ringers; if you would like to contribute your time, please call Anna at 264-6957. ?In addition to your cash donations to the Red Kettle, you can make a tax-deductible donation by mailing your gift to us at the post office box listed below. Please keep in mind that funds mailed to the Archuleta County address will be spent to help families in Archuleta County.
