Youth soccer coaches and sponsors recognized

This year’s youth soccer season is drawing to an end, and the recreation department staff would recognize the coaches and sponsors for all of this year’s divisions.

We cannot overstate our thanks to all of the volunteer coaches and sponsors who once again stepped forward to ensure a successful season. Without the exemplary efforts of the volunteers listed hereafter — some of whom assumed coaching responsibilities in two divisions –– administering an enjoyable program becomes nearly impossible.

In the 5- and 6-year-old division, we thank Kody Hill, Chris Pitcher, Jeremy Bonin, Kevin Schuchart, Jesse Lister and Michelle Zeigler.

In the 7- and 8-year-old bracket, thanks go out to Shannon Lane, Heather Glasser, Lisa Scott, Scott Pierce and Matt Bowdridge.

Coaches garnering thanks in the 9- and 10-year-old division include Steve Koneman, Patrick O’Brien, Sara Severs and Jennifer Green.

In the 11- through 12-year-old division, we recognize Jack Searle, Jergen Montgomery, Scott Pierce, Scott Cunningham and Matt Bowdridge.

On a similar note, we thank the following sponsors for their generous contributions to the program: Jann C. Pitcher Real Estate, Design A Sign, Pagosa Quality Flooring, Concrete Connection of Pagosa Springs, Briliam Engineering, The Springs Resort, Al’s Place Residential Care, Rocky Mountain Physical Therapy and Scott Strategic Investments.

Equally important to the program is the support from the participants, and we would like to thank all of the players and their parents and guardians for contributing to this year’s program.

As always, thanks again to each of you for your continued sportsmanship, dedication and support.

Disc golf

Anyone interested in exploring the game of disc golf can try out a newly-erected, temporary course on the south side of Reservoir Hill.

For the next several weeks, veteran players and beginners alike can test their skills on the nine-hole course, which occupies roughly five acres on the hill’s southwest meadow. Players can access the course by taking Hot Springs Boulevard to Spring Street. From Spring Street, proceed on foot through the gate and look for the first hole on the north side of the meadow approximately one-quarter of a mile up the road. Tee boxes and baskets have been flagged for better visibility.

The recreation office is monitoring the use of the course, and would like to hear comments concerning this location from disc golfers and others who use Reservoir Hill for recreational purposes. Anyone wishing to comment can call the office at 264-4151 Ext. 232. Comments can also be e-mailed to
