The Pagosa Springs Golf Club hosted two of its annual fall tournaments recently — the 36-hole Club Championship for men and women, Sept. 19 and 20, and the Fall Frolic Couples Tournament, Sept. 26 and 27.
During the Club Championship, all participants played the Pinon Ponderosa courses (par 71) Saturday, and the Meadows Pinon courses (par 72) Sunday. Despite the very wet playing conditions, two women’s league members prevailed: Kay Crumpton captured the ladies 2009 Pagosa Springs Club Championship with a gross score of 167; Barbara Sanborn won first net with a 153. Both Crumpton and Sanborn recently won the ladies league Club Championship and the first net titles, respectively. Congratulations, ladies, on successful tournaments and your stellar seasons!
The Fall Frolic Couples Tournament was a 54-hole invitational, and featured a best ball net on the Pinon course, a net alternate shot on the Ponderosa course, and a scramble format on the Meadows course for a total of 27 holes of golf each day. Par for the courses is 107.
Loretta and Fred Campuzano captured first place with a score of 188; third place went to Barbara Sanborn and Ranza Boggess with a 196; and Sam Gould and Jerry Adams were fifth with a total of 203.
As we complete the chronicles for another eventful, exciting and successful season, we bid a fond adieu to all of our league mates until next spring.
