Wheel still open, printmaking workshop added at SHY RABBIT

SHY RABBIT Contemporary Arts: Gallery, Studio and Workshops has added a new session of introductory Printmaking w/o a Press, to take place Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 7-8.

Online registration is now available for all workshops.

Classes are designed for novice and experienced artists alike, and are also geared for individuals that are simply interested in expanding their creativity in a fun, relaxed and nurturing environment.

WORK-Shops @ SHY RABBIT are held in one of two spacious 1,000 square-foot mixed media studios, and are instructed by professional artist and ceramist D. Michael Coffee. 

Workshops currently being offered include:

• Ceramics from the Potter’s Wheel I — Introductory).

There are only two spaces remaining, so don’t delay. This course runs five consecutive Wednesday evenings, Oct. 21-Nov. 18, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Glazing session: Saturday, Dec. 12, 10 a.m.–1 p.m. Course fee: $275; includes all materials, glazes, firings, and a tool-kit that participants may keep for future use. This workshop is limited to four participants. Early registration is advised.

Open studio time is included in the course fee to encourage participants to practice on the wheel in between sessions. Studio time is available daily, 10 a.m.–4 p.m., throughout the duration of the course.

The five-week introductory course is designed for novice and experienced potters alike. It will establish good working fundamentals that will provide a foundation for continuing work on the wheel and advancement, if desired. Participants will learn the concepts of wedging, centering, opening, pulling and shaping forms, trimming and finishing, and glazing.

• Printmaking without a Press I — (Introductory).

This two-day introductory workshop utilizes a unique hand-pressed printing process called “Reductive Ink”™, designed and developed by D. Michael Coffee.

Printmaking w/o a Press is high in content and uses inexpensive, low-tech materials that can be easily used in a home studio environment. It is designed for those with or without printmaking experience.

This workshop will run from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 7-8. The workshop fee is $215, and includes all course materials.
