Empty shoeboxes are perfect for filling with toys, school supplies, hygiene items, and clothing for needy children around the world.
Through Operation Christmas Child, gift-filled shoeboxes bring joy and hope to children who rarely, if ever, receive gifts. The lives of children who receive the boxes and those who fill and give the boxes are forever changed.
Last year, nearly 8 million boxes were collected, then distributed in 75 countries. Of those boxes, Pagosa Springs filled 697!
Won’t you consider filling an Operation Christmas Child box this year? Or perhaps you’d like to help with the collection of the boxes throughout the community.
A meeting of people interested in helping with the 2009 National Collection Week in November will meet from 6-7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14, at Mountain Heights Baptist Church (1044 Park Ave., across from the Pagosa Lakes Recreation Center). Dinner will be served.
