The Pagosa Springs Photo Club Annual Show is scheduled to open at 5 p.m. Sept. 17 with an artists’ reception at PSAC Town Park Gallery.
The exhibit will include 25 prints selected by juror Barry Durand, president of the Durango Photo Club. Thirteen photographers are represented.
The public is invited to attend the opening and meet the photographers.
The Pagosa Springs Photography Club will meet Wednesday evening, Sept. 9, in the Arts and Crafts Room of the community center. Join us for refreshments starting at 6 p.m. followed by photo critiquing and business meeting at 6:30.
The Pagosa Photo Club is pleased to welcome photographer/artist June Russell as this month’s guest speaker, with a program on the artistry of images entitled, “Composition: Eyes Wide Open.
June will discuss the elements of composition that result in strong images. June has been a fine art photographer for 15 years and has taken classes and attended photo expeditions and workshops. Her inspiration comes from nature where she finds her spiritual link. Her work has been in many juried competitions, and she has had a large solo show in Houston which featured 47 of her images. She is currently associated with Betz Gallery in Houston. June’s most recent work involves making abstract from macro images of flowers. You can see her work and learn more at www.junerussellphotography.com.
A monthly photo theme exhibit is held during each club meeting. The two categories are the theme category and the open category, where any subject is allowed. This month’s theme is “Summer.” Members may enter as many as three prints or digital images, but no more than two in either category. June Russell and President Barbara Conkey will lead the critique of photos. This will be done as a group rather than have specific judges.
The Photography Club meets the second Wednesday of each month during the club year from September through May at 6 p.m. interested photography enthusiasts are welcome to attend at no charge for the first meeting. Any and all are invited to join for annual dues of $20 for single individuals and $30 for family membership. For more information, contact Barbara Conkey at email@example.com or 731-6877.
