Annual Auction for the Animals takes place Friday

Have you ever wanted a digital piano or a week in a condo in Hawaii?

How about an Australian stock saddle or a custom-created turquoise and silver necklace and earrings by local jewelry artist Treva Wheeless?

No? Well, what about a wonderful piece of art donated by renowned artists Rick Unger or Kathleen Steventon, or photographer Barbara Rosner?

Still not getting your attention?

Then how about a ride in a hot air balloon courtesy of Wind Wranglers, a Choke Cherry gift basket full of delicious goodies, or a special donation item from Parelli Natural Horsemanship?

Getting interested?

Well then, you might want to know there will be a chance to bid on a fly fishing trip for one or two at El Rancho Pinosa or a fabulous 17x9x4 Tuff Pool donated by Paint Connection Plus. There will be in the neighborhood of 200 items up for bid, in all price ranges, with something for everyone.

If we have your attention, you might want to consider coming down to the 15th annual Auction for the Animals and seeing for yourself all the wonderful items up for bid in the live and silent auctions.

This popular Pagosa event will be held Friday, Aug. 28, at the Pagosa Springs Community Center.  It will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the silent auction followed by the live auction at 7:45.  The Brown Bag Auction, where a $1 ticket could possibly win you the item of your choice, will be back this year as well.

Tickets are the same price as last year: $30 at the door.  The price of a ticket includes gourmet hors d’oeuvres catered by Alley House Grille, Farrago’s and other sources, delicious desserts, an assortment of wine and micro beers, your personal wine or pilsner glass to keep filled all evening, soft drinks, and the time of your life bidding on fabulous auction items.

Please plan to attend one of the most enjoyable evenings of the year, which will benefit a great cause — keeping Archuleta County free of wandering cats and dogs. The Humane Society provides homeless animals with temporary shelter and care until they can be reunited with their owners or an adoptive family can be found.

The Humane Society does not receive any funding from the Humane Society of the United States, American Humane, the A.S.P.C.A, or from United Way. The animal shelter relies on revenues from private donations, the Thrift Store, and fund-raisers such as the Auction for the Animals.

For more information on the event, contact the Humane Society at 264-5549 or the Pagosa Springs Chamber of Commerce at 264-2360.

Mark your calendars and save the date for this year’s Auction for the Animals – you will be glad you did! For further information or to make a tax deductible donation to the auction, contact the Humane Society Administrative Office at 264-5549
