Women who were members of a Panhellenic sorority during their college days are asked to save the date of Saturday, Sept. 26 for the fourth annual luncheon of sorority alumnae to take place in Pagosa Springs.
The luncheon will be held in the private room at Boss Hogg’s restaurant, located at 157 Navajo Trail Road, starting at 11:30 a.m. Cost will be $15, which includes your choice from three entrées, wheat bread, a non-alcoholic drink (coffee, soda or iced tea), dessert, tax and tip. Entrée choices are crab cakes, vegetable lasagna or blackened prime rib Caesar salad. Dessert is bread pudding with whiskey sauce.
Keynote speaker at the event will be Lisa Scott, who will talk about hazing as an issue on college campuses. At previous Panhellenic luncheons she has discussed changes in sorority recruitment and the growing importance of philanthropies among college sororities and their alumnae groups.
Prepaid reservations will be required by Monday, Sept. 21. To confirm your participation, you will be asked to send a check for $15 per person made out to San Juan Pi Beta Phi to Donna Gregory, 80 Fremont Court, Pagosa Springs CO 81147, and to specify which of the three entrees you want. Also, please confirm your name, address, phone, e-mail, sorority and college where you pledged to ensure our list remains current and accurate.? Donna’s telephone is 731-1065 if you have questions regarding your reservation.
Last year 25 women from 24 universities and 11 different sororities across the country attended the third Pagosa Panhellenic luncheon. “We hope to have even more women at this gathering,” said Scott, president of the San Juan Pi Beta Phi alumnae group which is organizing the event. ”“Our first three events were great fun – stimulating conversation, a brief but interesting program, and an opportunity to renew friendships and meet new women.
“We’re not asking Panhellenic women to do anything right now except put the date on their calendars,” Scott said. “With everyone so busy, we wanted to be sure people were notified well in advance to help in their planning.”
There are 26 Panhellenic sororities whose alumnae are invited to this event: Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Epsilon Phi, Alpha Gamma Delta, Alpha Phi, Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Sigma Alpha, Alpha Sigma Tau, Alpha Xi Delta, Chi Omega, Delta Delta Delta, Delta Gamma, Delta Phi Epsilon, Delta Zeta, Gamma Phi Beta, Kappa Alpha Theta, Kappa Delta, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Pi Beta Phi, Phi Mu, Phi Sigma Sigma, Sigma Delta Tau, Sigma Kappa, Sigma Sigma Sigma, Theta Phi Alpha and Zeta Tau Alpha.
