PSAC 2009 Artists’ Studio and Gallery Tour just around the corner

Crowds can expect another delightfully fun Colorfest weekend of celebrating the arts, when the Pagosa Springs Arts Council conducts its second annual Artists’ Studio and Gallery Tour.

This year’s tour features the unique and evocative work of 30 local artists, many of whom were not on last year’s tour, and many who were last year’s favorites. These artists will open their private studios, or participate through local art businesses, and give you an intimate look into their techniques and work processes. The tour, free to the public, is slated for Saturday, Sept. 12, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 13, noon to 5 p.m.

We owe our sincerest thanks to the very gracious and generous business owners who made this year’s tour possible through their sponsorship; Susanne Russell of Art and Framing Center of Pagosa; Wen Saunders of Artisans of the Southwest Art Gallery and Wine Tasting Room; Roxanne Schick of Artyrox Graphic and Web Design; Cappy White of Handcrafted Interiors and Old Stone Furniture Company; Doris Green of Lantern Dancer Gallery; Patti Rios of Pagosa Artisans’ Co-op; Jeff Laydon of Pagosa Photography; Michael and Denise Coffee of SHY RABBIT Contemporary Arts; and Madeline Lyon of Wild Spirit Gallery. The Pagosa Springs Arts Council immensely appreciates the passion of these business owners to make this year’s event happen, and in a very successful way.

During this year’s studio tour, expect artists to perform live demonstrations of their work, discuss candidly their techniques and work processes, display their works for viewing and sale, and answer questions you might have regarding their artistic media and the like. A wide array of contemporary and traditional art will be on display and artistic techniques demonstrated; oils, acrylic, watercolor, pen and ink, reductive ink monoprints, mixed media, textiles, photography, jewelry, ceramics, fiber, glass, wood, stone, and bronze.
