Kathryn Bell Cook

Kathryn Bell Cook, born Nov. 7, 1922, in Los Angeles, Calif., went with the angels on July 6, 2009.

On June 28, 1942, Kathryn married Robert Earl Cook, who preceded her in death. They left behind two daughters, Sheryl Otis of Pagosa Springs, Colo., and Susan Butler of Whittier, Calif. Sheryl has two sons, Christian and wife Brandi, and Colton Peterson, of Pagosa Springs, Craig and his wife Tonya and sons Curtis and Chase Peterson of Phoenix, Ariz. Susan has two daughters, Rachel and her husband, Adam Parks, of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Shayna and her husband, Gil Shpitzer, of North Hollywood, Calif.

Kathryn and Bob raised their girls in Downey, Calif., where she was very active in many organizations such as President of Children’s Home Society, Vice President of the Downey Rose Float Association, Girl Scout leader and President of PTA several times. She was also working full time at the Downey Library as Assistant Children’s Librarian.

In 1970, Kathryn and Bob relocated to El Cajon, Calif., in San Diego County, and once again she started volunteering at Magnolia Convalescent Care Center for 19 years. She also volunteered at Chase Elementary School for about 10 years.

In 1992, they moved to Pagosa Springs, where Sheryl and her family relocated. Kathryn began volunteering at the Pack Rat not long after she arrived.

Kathryn has many friends who will miss her, as well as her family. She was much loved by everyone.
