Elation Center for the Arts presents “Drum and Dance Jam,” a colorful spectrum of world music and dance, today, Thursday, 6:30”– 8:00 p.m., at the Pagosa Lakes Clubhouse. Admission is $5.00.
Acoustic music, free-form movement and folk dance: Dan Appenzeller, Jeff Burkett, Sammy D, Mike Guttman and The Wild Mountain Gypsies join forces for an evening of live music set as a backdrop for free-form movement by all who wish to participate.
It’s a chance to get up and move around without having to think about what step you’re doing. It’s also fine to just sit back and watch “Drum and Dance Jam” unfold.
Phyllis Dobson will be on hand to encourage participation. Dobson teaches a popular ECA Latin dance.
Doug and Laurel Epps will demonstrate their collection of African marimbas, with authentic music from Zimbabwe.
Multi-instrumentalists Paul and Carla Roberts will play instruments from around the world, to accompany some gorgeously costumed dancers and for free-form movement.
There will be a chance for everyone to create rhythm during a drum jam, so if you have a hand drum, you might want to bring it.
Join us for “Drum and Dance Jam” — acoustic music, free-form movement and folk dance.
Please bring a dessert or something yummy to share.
