Silviano Talamante

January 31, 1923 – July 22, 2009.

Silviano Talamante, 86, a resident of Blanco since 1974, passed away early Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at his home surrounded by his family. Silviano was born Jan. 31, 1923, in Edith, Colo., the son of Alfredo Talamante and Maria Angelita (Salazar) Talamante. He was an active and faithful member of St. Rose de Lima Catholic Church of Blanco. Silviano loved to garden and enjoyed sharing his harvest with neighbors and friends. He liked to travel and drive fast. Silviano will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Silviano is survived by his six children: Rosalie Maestas of Espanola, N.M., Salomon Talamante and wife Corine of Hernandez, N.M., Sylvia Carbone and husband Tony of Farmington, Johnny Talamante of Las Vegas, Nev., Mike Talamante and wife Eleanor of Farmington, and Machell Valencia and husband Donny also of Farmington; 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and?three on the way; brother Andres Talamante and wife Della of Edith; sisters Adelia Martinez of Clearfield, Utah, Beatrice Talamante and husband Alfredo of Lumberton, N.M. and Angie Martinez and husband Alberto of Edith, and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wives Maria, Rae Dean, Teresita, Encarcion, and 11 siblings.

Visitation for Siliviano was held Friday, July 24, 2009, in Farmington. Following the visitation was a prayer service conducted by Pastor George Ford.

Rosary was recited Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at St. Rose de Lima Catholic Church in Blanco by the Legion of Mary.

Rosary was also recited Wednesday, July 26, 2009, at St. Antonio Catholic Church in Medanales, N.M., by Silviano’s family members.

Mass of Christian Burial was Thursday, July 27, 2009, at St. Antonio Catholic Church in Medanales, with Father James Marshall as celebrant. Silviano was laid to rest next to his brother and his family at the Medanales Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Sylvie Talamante, Aaron Talamante, Julian Valencia, Donald Valencia, Jr., Justin Valencia and Alex Talamante. Honorary pallbearers were Silviano’s brothers and sisters and close friends.
