Classic raises $6,300 for Archuleta County Education Center

This year’s Pine Cone Classic charity golf tournament raised $6,300 for the Archuleta County Education Center.

Don Goodwin, director of the ACEC, and Jody McAlister, vice president of the center’s board of directors, attended the awards luncheon immediately following play, July 8, to receive the check from the Pagosa Springs Women’s Golf Association.

Goodwin and McAlister said, that they “were thrilled and overwhelmed by the association’s generosity, and very appreciative of the PSWGA’s fund-raising efforts.” They were delighted to have been chosen as the recipient for this year’s charity. They said, “The funds will be used for scholarships for students at the center.”

Audrey Johnson, tournament fund-raising chairwoman, said “Funds for the charity were raised from our generous sponsors, the silent auction, chances sold on the 32-inch Zenith flat screen HD TV and private donations made directly to the charity.” Club golf professional Troy Perrson also donated the $395 he earned from the “Drive from the Pro,” the first day of the tournament on No. 9 Ponderosa.
