Friday, November 12, 2010

Pagosa Springs Rotary Club’s first annual Bearded Turkey Competition was held April 11-May 24 to raise money for our local scholarship fund, and it was a great success, thanks to all of our sponsors.

First place went to Sam Bard, who won a Remington 12 Gauge 870 EXP Camo pump 28-inch shotgun, courtesy of Eagle Mountain Mercantile and a Turkey Beard Mount from Mount-N-Man Taxidermy. The second-place winner was Vic Hendrickson from Durango, who won a Turkey Beard Mount from Mountainaire Taxidermy.

We would like to thank all our sponsors and The Outfitter, Ski and Bow Rack, Eagle Mountain Mercantile, from Pagosa Springs, Goods for the Woods and Wal-Mart from Durango, Lewis True Value from Bayfield for selling all those tickets for the competition. Great job guys! Watch for the posters next year; it will be bigger and better.
