The Board of Directors of Housing Solutions for the Southwest has announced that Kim Welty, executive director of Housing Solutions for the Southwest, will be leaving the Housing Solutions organization after four years of dedicated service to the southwest region.
Welty has been an asset to this organization, and her talents, skills and accomplishments are greatly appreciated by this Board. Through Welty’s leadership, Housing Solutions has expanded programs and services in order to serve more families in need, built community relationships, and strengthened the infrastructure of Housing Solutions. Welty stated that her reason for leaving is based on a decision to make a lifestyle change due to family and the desire to put her energies toward other passions in her life.
Even though Welty will be handing over the reins of the organization, she will be staying on to provide a seamless transition to the new director and continue to provide special project support for as long as needed or requested. High on the project list is the development of the Socorro Senior Living housing project in Pagosa Springs and ,if awarded, the implementation of the State Energy Savings Partners Weatherization program in collaboration with 4CORE.
Welty has been actively assisting the board in finding her replacement. As a result of those efforts the board is pleased to announce that Elyse Ackerman, former town administrator for the Town of Silverton, has accepted the position. Ackerman will be joining the team at Housing Solutions at the end of July. Ackerman, a Durango native, returned to the western slope two years ago to serve as town administrator in Silverton. Ackerman brings a diverse background to Housing Solutions and is excited to help address housing needs for the southwest region, strengthen community relationships, and increase the visibility of Housing Solutions for the Southwest.
