Wednesday, July 22, 2009

United Way of Southwest Colorado is pleased to announce Teddy Adler Finney has been named to serve as the Archuleta County Community Relations Coordinator.

Teddy has a long history of working with nonprofit organizations. She was the founder of Seeds of Learning Family Center and worked as its executive director for six years. She has served on the board of directors for Archuleta County Victims Assistance Program and Healthy Communities of Southwest Colorado. She was a cofounder of the first After-Prom Party in 2004, which still carries on its tradition. She has been an active volunteer in the community, helping with the 9Health Fair, 4-H, Habitat for Humanity, Colorado Housing Inc., Kiwanis and in her parish of Immaculate Heart of Mary and Pope John Paul II. Teddy has also worked in the school system for several years as a teacher, substitute teacher and aide.

Teddy and her husband, Ray, their daughters Emily and Jenna and their dog, Flash, moved to Pagosa Springs from Denver 15 years ago. She was employed in Denver by an organization called the Conflict Center. Her role at the Conflict Center was teaching conflict management and anger management classes. She also taught parenting and conflict management to adults. Previous to that, she taught with Head Start for eight years in Denver. She is a graduate of St. Mary’s College in South Bend, Ind., with a degree in psychology and a minor in child development.

Teddy’s heart is in the community and working to make this community a more cohesive and healthy place for all people to reside. It is with great pleasure that she will be carrying on the LIVE UNITED theme in her new position.

We are very fortunate to have someone of Teddy’s caliber joining our organization. I have no doubt that Teddy will continue the great work that United Way does for Archuleta County.

United Way’s new office is generously donated by Jann C. Pitcher Real Estate and is located at 2261 Eagle Drive off U.S. 160.
