Pagosa’s gymnasts participated in the State Championships in Castle Rock, Colo.
Thirteen teams competed in the two-day event.
The Optional group consisted of Hannah Rohrich, Zoe Rohrich, Sierra Trout, Gabrielle Pajak and Toni Stoll.
The Optional 6 group: Zoe Rohrich, Hannah Rohrich and Sierra Trout captured the third-place team trophy. The top three scores in each event are used to compile the team total, which means all three of these girls’ scores counted toward the team score.
Each athlete had to have a consistently good performance to be in the running in the team competition. So, even though none of the girls made the top three in the individual events, they pulled together as a team.
In the individual all- around, Zoe Rorich placed 14th, Hannah Rorich placed 15th and Trout placed 19th — out of 25 competitors.
Hannah Rorich had the highest event placing — 8th on the vault
For the Optional 7 group, Toni Stoll and Gabrielle Pajak completed a terrific season.
Stoll made the award stand on the balance beam with her best performance, scoring a 9.30 and earning a fourth-place medal. She also placed 10th on vault and 12th in the all-around.
Pajak took 19th in the all-around, in a field of 26.
Miah Pitcher was the only competitor for the Level 5 group representing Pagosa Springs.
Pitcher had a personal best all-around score of 33.55, good for 10th place. She also placed ninth on bars, 11th on vault, and 12th on beam and floor.
I am very proud of how the girls performed this season. What talent has come out of this small town!
