Watercolor Portraits with Pierre Mion
Pierre Mion is teaching one of his rare portrait classes this summer.
These classes are fun and relaxed, with no high pressure. You will receive a lot of personal attention and beginners are more than welcome. There will be photos and sketches for each student of the two subjects we will paint. You may also bring a photo of your choice for the second portrait.
The workshop will be held July 20-22, with an optional fourth day on July 23. The price is $240 for PSAC members or $265 for nonmembers. The extra $25 pays for a one-year membership in PSAC. The cost of the optional fourth day is $65. Register early — the class is limited to 10 students.
Call Pierre at 731-9781 for more information and a list of art supplies. All classes will be held in the Arts and Crafts Room of the community center from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Please bring your own lunch
An old friend of Pierre’s from Chevy Chase, Md., is coming to Pagosa Springs to take this workshop. She is 85 years old and they have been friends for 47 years.
The PSAC Town Park Gallery is now on summer hours. We are open Tuesday through Sunday noon to 4 p.m. You can also visit our Web site at www.pagosa-arts.com for additional information.
The 2009 Pagosa Country Calendars have been marked down and are for sale at half price in the Town Park Gallery. The calendars normally sell for $8.95 plus tax for nonmembers and $7.95 plus tax for PSAC members. Call 264-5020 to place your order.
Plein Air Painters
Plein Air Painters meet at 10 a.m. on the third Thursday of the month at a predetermined location. On July 16, we will meet at the Piedra River picnic area. Drive north on Piedra Road until the road crosses the river (approximately 25 minutes from U.S. 160). There is a picnic area with tables and restrooms on the right side of the road.
Painters who work in any media are welcome. It’s a wonderful opportunity to share tips, ideas and resources. If the weather is nice, we paint outdoors. If the weather is bad we will paint in the community center Arts and Crafts Room. Please keep in mind that turpentine-based painting materials cannot be used in the Community Center. Please call Kayla, 731-9100, if you need more information.
