The recreation office is now accepting registrations for this year’s Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs program, which will be held Mondays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. from June 29 through July 26 (location to be determined).
With the assistance of the Promoting Prevention Coalition, Pagosa Springs Parks and Recreation departments and Pagosa Lakes Property Owners Association, up to 25 children ages 8-13 can participate in this educational outdoor experience.
Registration is $25 and includes use of fishing poles, bait and flies for those in need, plus drinks and snacks. Participants are welcome to bring their own fishing gear, as well. Insect repellent and sunscreen will also be available.
The program is again being conducted with donations and on-site assistance from John and Lori Unger of BossTin (suppliers of lead-free weights and shots), 4-H leaders Ken and Charlotte Jones, and Promoting Prevention Coalition members Sue Iverson and Joanne Irons. Parent volunteers are welcome to assist, as well.
Registrations are available at the recreation office in Town Hall, and can also be downloaded through the recreation department link at www.townofpagosasprings.com. Registrations should be submitted to the recreation office; checks and money orders should be payable to the Town of Pagosa Springs.

Adult softball schedules are being finalized and the season is set to begin June 16.
Managers should call Andy Rice, recreation supervisor, at 264-4151, Ext. 231, to obtain schedules. Schedules are also posted on the recreation department page at www.townofpagosasprings.com.
Managers are reminded that team registration fees are $250 and due prior to the start of each team’s first game. Individual player fees are $30 and due prior to the start of each player’s second game. Checks and money orders should be made payable to the Town of Pagosa Springs.
The registration deadline for the July session of youth tennis for ages 7-13 is June 26.
Registrations are available online through the recreation department link at www.townofpagosasprings.com and are also available at the recreation office in Town Hall. The cost for the July session is $30. A minimum of four participants per division will be required to conduct the session.
If registrations are sufficient, participants in all age divisions will meet twice a week at the Wyndham Resorts tennis courts for one-hour intervals. Sessions for ages 7-10 will be held Mondays and Wednesdays from 11 a.m.-noon, and sessions for ages 11-13 will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m.-noon.
Participants must have a tennis racquet and non-marking athletic or tennis shoes. Running shoes can cause injuries, as they are not designed for lateral movement. All necessary equipment may be ordered from Dale Schwicker at very reasonable costs; he can be contacted at 731-3363.

Games continue tonight in the 9-10 division, with the Dodgers taking on the Pirates at 5:20 p.m. on Field 1, and the Yankees facing the Rockies at 7:05 p.m. on Field 1.

The recreation department is accepting donations for this year’s Fourth of July fireworks show.
Donations in any amount will be accepted; checks and money orders should be made payable to Town of Pagosa Springs.
Donations should be addressed “Attention: Fireworks” and mailed to P.O. Box 1859, Pagosa Springs, CO 81147. If you would like to make a cash donation, please do so in person at the front desk in Town Hall.
