Full Moon Program set for June 7

Watch the full moon rise Sunday, June 7, at the Great House Pueblo site, learn about the Ancestral Puebloans, archaeoastronomy theories, area geology, and enjoy Native American flute melodies by Charles Martinez.

Gates open from 7 to 7:30 p.m. The program begins at 8. Moon rise is at approximately 9.

This moon rise will not occur between the twin spires.

Allow approximately two to three hours for the entire program, which is not recommended for children under 12.

Reservations are required. Tickets are $15. Add $5 for an early tour of the lower area (Great Kiva Trail Loop), which starts at 6 p.m. Bring flashlights, water (also for sale at the cabin), cushions, and blankets or coats.

This event is sponsored by Chimney Rock Interpretive Assoc., in partnership with the USDA Forest Service, San Juan National Forest and the Pagosa Ranger District.
