Pagosa gymnasts compete against Front Range teams

Pagosa gymnasts participated in their second competition of the season at Sundance Gymnastics in Monument, Colo. Pagosa fared well against the larger teams from the greater Denver area.

The Optional group consisting of Hannah Rohrich, Zoe Rohrich, Sierra Trout, Gabrielle Pajak and Toni Stoll was the first to perform in the Friday evening competition.

In the junior division for Optional 6, Zoe Rohrich placed sixth in the all-around and received a medal, placing fifth on the uneven bars.

Hannah Rohrich placed seventh, just behind her sister, and received a fifth-place medal on the vault.

Trout placed 10th in the all-around for the juniors and placed fifth on the floor exercise.

All three girls performed their difficult bar dismount element by themselves for the first time.

Stoll had an outstanding competition winning the uneven bars and placing fourth in the all-around for the Optional 7 junior group.

Pajak also performed superbly, placing fourth in the all-around in the senior division. She placed fifth on bars and also received the bronze medal on both vault and balance beam.

The Level 5 group consisting of Molly Burkesmith, Isabelle Pajak, Miah Pitcher and Abby Walkup competed in the Saturday evening session.

These younger gymnasts had a fine performance.

Pitcher made the award stand, placing fifth on the floor exercise and bettered her bar score by two points.

Pajak topped her all-around score by two points as well, qualifying her for the state competition.

Burkesmith and Walkup had a solid first competition at this new, more advanced level and we are all looking forward to our next meet in Glenwood Springs on May 30.
