Busy calendar at community center

This weekend, the community center is the only place in town to enjoy a sumptuous meal presented by the Guadalupanas, while being entertained by the beautiful dancers of Semillas de la Tierra of Alamosa, and the rhythmic sounds of Pagosa’s own, Variety Express.

You can only find this lively entertainment Saturday, May 2, at the Cinco de Mayo Family Dinner, Dance and Fiesta. This will truly be a dazzling evening of entertainment, 5:30-11 p.m.

Tickets are available at the center and Happy Trails. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door, and $2 for those in 12th grade and younger. Tickets do not include the price of food served at the Fiesta. We will also have a cash bar serving wine, beer and soft drinks for those under 21.

Join us for what will be a most excellent evening, Viva la fiesta!

Arts, crafts, chalk

The Arts and Crafts Show and a Chalk Art Show are coming to our community center.

The Arts and Crafts Show will be Friday, May 15, 3-6 p.m. and Saturday, May 16, 9 a.m-4 p.m. Crafters in every genre will show their work.

The Chalk Art Show will be Saturday, May 16, 9 a.m-4 p.m., open to all children. We have some children from Seeds of Learning and Sabine’s class who may be joining us, and if you would like to participate, call Michelle at the center, 264-4152 and we’ll sign you up.

Space will be limited and spaces will be as small as 2x2, 4x6 and some a little larger. The theme is, “April showers bring May?” Your imagination is your only hurdle; there is no wrong or right ... just fun.

So, if there are children out there with a passion for painting, coloring and drawing we would love to see you here. The center will supply the chalk.

Cancer Support Group

If you are interested in becoming part of a cancer support group, contact Howard Gross at, 264-5100. It is our hope that we can help one another in overcoming the feelings of isolation and despair that sometimes accompanies a diagnosis of cancer, offering each other encouragement and hope in battling this disease and its aftermath.
