Cinco de Mayo celebration Saturday

It’s party time again at your Pagosa Springs Community Center!

The Pagosa Springs Spanish Fiesta Club, The Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church Guadalupanas and the community center have come together to celebrate Cinco de Mayo on Saturday, May 2.

The festivities will start with the delicious and authentic tamales, chili, frijoles, tortillas and all the trimmings prepared by The Guadalupanas. The price of the ala carte meal is paid separately from the ticket prices and all proceeds from the food benefit the Guadalupanas directly.

While enjoying the fine food, you will be entertained by traditional Folklorico dancing and music by Semillas de la Tierra (Seeds of the Earth) from Alamosa. Students from Adams State College will delight the audience with their colorful, lively performances. Also, the troupe has young dancers who will tickle your heart with their precious performance.

The doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the dinner will be served until 7.

After dinner, stay and dance with Pagosa’s favorite Spanish band, Variety Express. The dancing never stops when this 10-piece band gets on the stage. Their big sound is only enhanced by the incredible variety of Mexican, rock, and country western tunes they perform. The band starts at 7 and finishes its sets at 11.

A cash bar serving Pagosa Brewing Co. beer and root beer will be available — IDs required.

Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Teens are $2. Purchase tickets at the community center and at Happy Trails.

All proceeds from ticket sales benefit the Pagosa Springs Community Center and The Pagosa Springs Spanish Fiesta Club.
