Scholarships available for inaugural Pagosa Bluegrass Camp for Kids

Bearfoot will host and teach a Bluegrass Camp for Kids right here in Pagosa Springs for the first time this June 3, 4 and 5.

The camp filled quickly, so at this time the only spots left are three scholarship positions that will be awarded based upon financial need. These scholarships are being provided by the La Plata Electric Educational Donation Grant Program and are open to residents in the LPEA service area.

The camp is open to kids age 5-17 with any level of musical experience.

Subjects taught at camp include guitar, mandolin, bass, fiddle and vocals, and instruments may be available to borrow.

If you are interested in applying for one of the scholarships for your child, please send a letter stating child’s name, age, musical interest and ability, phone number and a brief description of the financial hardship that would prevent you from paying the $150 tuition (i.e. job loss, medical problems, etc.). Letters can be mailed to FolkWest, P.O. Box 3665, Pagosa Springs, CO 81147, or e-mailed to festival@folkwest.com no later than April 30. Scholarship recipients will be notified by May 8.

If you have questions, call Crista Munro at FolkWest, 731-5582.
