High Country Squares attend New Mexico district dance

The Northwest District of the New Mexico Square Dance Association held it’s quarterly dance in Durango on April 17.

Several couples from the High Country Squares attended this dance. Our members are getting quite a bit of exposure to new callers and are meeting new dancers from across Colorado and New Mexico.

Our caller, Jim Park, will be returning to Pagosa in early May. The High Country Squares want to thank substitute callers Louis Norton of Durango, Richard Berry of Cortez, and Lloyd Husted of Farmington for helping us out through the winter months. We had great fun dancing to their calls and we have perfected our steps in mainstream and plus dancing.

Our first dance with Jim Park calling will be May 11, at the PLPOA Clubhouse, 6:30 p.m.

The High Country Squares will again offer beginning Western Square Dance lessons starting June 1, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the PLPOA Clubhouse. Cost is $4 per person for a fun evening that will stimulate your brain and exercise your body. No dance experience necessary, just bring your enthusiasm, your sense of humor, and your right and left feet. Come see for yourself what square dancing is all about.
