Cinco de Mayo Fiesta, Dinner and Dance at community center

The Cinco de Mayo Celebration is a family affair this year, co-sponsored by the Spanish Fiesta Club, Guadalupanas and the community center.

The Cinco de Mayo Family Dinner, Dance, Fiesta will provide a dazzling evening of entertainment May 2, 5:30-11 p.m.

Guadalupanas will have delicious food for sale from 5:30-7 p.m. All proceeds from the sale of food will go directly to the Guadalupanas. Esmillas de la Tierra-Folklorico Traditional Dancers from Alamosa entertain from 6-7 p.m, and you can enjoy your meal with dance and song.

Then there is the evening dance, featuring Pagosa’s own Variety Express from 7-11 p.m. This is your chance to swing those hips, and dance the night away.

Tickets are available at the community center and Happy Trails. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door, and $2 for kids 12th grade and younger. Tickets do not include the price of food served at the Fiesta. We will have a cash bar, serving wine and beer.

Arts and crafts show

For those out there that haven’t heard, we are having the arts and crafts show at the community center this year. It will be held on two days: Friday, May 15, 3-6 p.m and Saturday, May 16, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. We have space available, so come in and fill out an application.

Blood drive

The Community Center and United Blood Services are joining together to hold a blood drive on Tuesday, April 21, from 10:30 a.m-2:30 p.m. Call the center at 264-4152 to schedule your appointment. Find the hero in you — give blood three times a year.

Cancer Support Group. If you are interested in becoming part of a cancer support group, contact Howard Gross at 264-5100.

Preschooler’s playgroup. Thursday, 10 a.m-noon. Bring clean shoes with non-marking soles, as well as balls, ride-on toys and bikes with clean tires. A parent/guardian must stay with child/children, no drop-offs please. This is a great opportunity for both kids and their adults. Contact Gwen Taylor with questions or suggestions at 731-0305.

Couples and line dancing class. Monday, Couples, 9 a.m, line dancing, 10:15 a.m. Learn a new step or brush up on an old one.

Men’s Open Gym Basketball. Fridays, noon–1:30 p.m. The gym is open to basketball play only.

Scrapbook Club. The Scrapbook Club meets on the second Saturday of the month from 10 a.m-3 p.m. in the NCR. The class is free to all. All participants are asked to bring some kind of snack or munchies to share, drinks are provided. Bring your own scrapbooking supplies — paper, adhesive, and any embellishments.
