Rotary Club sponsors Bearded Turkey Competition

You know spring has arrived when the turkeys start gobbling.

Pagosa Springs Rotary Club has created a new way for turkey hunters to benefit from their favorite spring hunting activity — the first-ever Bearded Turkey Competition.

Birds tagged and measured during spring turkey hunting season, between April 11 and May 24, are eligible for entry into the competition.

The winning hunter will receive a Remington 12 guage 870 EXP camo, pump, 28-inch shotgun with a 23-inch slug barrel and turkey beard mount — an $812 value

Second place wins a Turkey beard mount worth $125.

Entry tickets are $20 and are available at Ski and Bow Rack, The Outfitter and Eagle Mountain Mercantile in Pagosa Springs, at Good for the Woods and Walmart Super Center in Durango, and at Lewis Tru Value in Bayfield.

All funds from the contest benefit Rotary Club scholarships and ticket prices are tax deductible. For more information, contact David Cammack at 731-4063.
