Spring Rummage Sale is Saturday

The Spring Rummage Sale is Saturday and if you have ever attended, you know it’s a great way to spend the morning.

The doors open at 8:30 a.m at the Pagosa Springs Community Center gym and the sale continues to 1 p.m.

Come to the center and enjoy all the fantastic stuff — and I mean great stuff — that will be on sale. Not only is this a fund-raiser for the center, it also gives the community a chance to put on a sale without the hassle that comes with home garage sales.

Joining us at the sale this year are the After Prom Moms — the after-prom party committee. The After Prom Moms work hard to provide the annual After-Prom-Party, held in the wee hours at the community center after the high school prom, as a way to keep our youth off the streets that night and in a safe and fun environment. The moms started meeting in January and the prom is always near the end of April. The group does various things to raise money, including participation this year at our sale.

The money they raise at the rummage sale will go to purchase the awesome door prizes they provide at the after-prom event, like a computer system, iPod, digital camera and much more. They also raise the funds for the games and food they offer during the evening at the center.

Donations of items for the sale to the After Prom Moms can be dropped off at the center 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, or Terri Matzdorf will pick up donated items. Call her at 731-6676.

We will have everything from A-Z for your buying pleasure at the sale Saturday. So save the day for this great event, and support your community. Look forward to seeing you.

Arts and crafts

Do you know an arts and crafts enthusiast who is looking for a venue in which to sell their work? Well, the community center is the place for them.

We will host the return of the Arts and Crafts Show, May 15 and 16. This event has always been one of our best events for the center and local vendors.

Booths are still available: a 10x10 space is $50. All this room gives you chance to show your creations, or you can share a booth with a friend. Pick up an application at the center, from 8 a.m-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 9 a.m-4 p.m. Saturday.

I know all you spenders out there have birthdays, baptisms, graduations, holidays, anniversaries, and “Just because I love you” days that you should be shopping for. Be smart — get it now and be ahead of the game. You’ll be happy you did.
