Southwestern Water conservation district to hold annual seminar

The Southwestern Water Conservation District will hold its 27th annual Water Seminar Friday, April 3, at the Doubletree Hotel, 501 Camino del Rio in Durango.

This year’s theme is “A Common Thread,” and there is a lineup of notable speakers who will address water issues in the West. The invited speakers include Alex Davis, Colorado Department of Natural Resources; Kay Brothers, Southern Nevada Water Authority; James Eklund, Colorado State Attorney’s Office; Brad Udall, Western Weather Assessment-CU; Terry Fulp, Lower Colorado Region Bureau of Reclamation, a local water icon; and a presentation on the Colorado River water banking concept.

The registration is $30 for advance registration, and $32 at the door, per person. This fee includes morning and afternoon snacks and a buffet lunch. Registration on April 3 begins at 8 a.m., seminar begins at 8:30, and the seminar will wrap up approximately 4 p.m.
