Let’s Dance Club will host a bolero workshop, followed by a potluck dinner and dance on Saturday, April 4, at the PLPOA Clubhouse, 230 Port Ave.
This will be an introduction to the bolero — a beautiful, romantic dance. The bolero is mostly influenced by waltz and rumba, but has a little American tango thrown into the mix. The bolero workshop will begin with a few fundamentals of rumba and waltz.
We are privileged to have Bob and Cindy Long, two very talented and accredited dance teachers, to teach this dance. They are co-franchisees of the Arthur Murray studio in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Both are highly acclaimed. They are Arthur Murray and North American professional Ballroom Champions, traveling dance consultants and examiners, adjudicators for all levels including World Championships, and co-authors of many Arthur Murray dance syllabi.
Dance instruction will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Please arrive for registration at 2:45 p.m. The cost is $20 per person. Anyone 16 years of age or older may attend the workshop. Please wear shoes that have smooth or suede leather soles, and does not leave black marks or mud on our wonderful dance floor.
Whether you come to the workshop or not, we heartily encourage you to come to the dinner and dance. BYOB cocktails will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by the potluck dinner at 7. There will be general dancing throughout the evening’s festivities. The dinner and dance is adult only. Bring your own adult beverage, and a dish to share: main dish, side dish, salad or dessert.
In Step Dance Associates, Charles Jackson and Deb Aspen and Let’s Dance club member David McGee earned many awards at the Winter Showcase last month in Albuquerque. During the evening, Deb will show a short video of some highlights of the showcase and she and Charles will do a few exhibition dances.
