New chairpersons busy planning Shamrock Festival

The new chairpersons for this year’s Shamrock Festival at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church are busy making plans.

Connie Sue O’Donnell, Chantelle Kay, and Sabra Miller are planning a spectacular event, including a dinner, silent auction and quilt raffle, which will take place at the church Saturday, Aug. 22.

The first disbursement of last year’s proceeds were recently given to charities within the community. These included Habitat for Humanity, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, LASSO, Archuleta County Victim Assistance Program, Seeds of Learning, Pagosa Hospital Indigent Program, Terry Bears for the Pagosa Hospital ER, food and gas cards for Social Services, and an educational scholarship at Our Savior Lutheran School.

It has been the policy of the Church Vestry to return the proceeds from the Shamrock Festival to charities and other outreach programs within the community, since the festival’s inception. The distributions take place quarterly, so that as a new need arises within the community, it can be supported.
