It’s time to mark calendars for the 9Health Fair, for Saturday, April 4.
This year is the 30th anniversary of the health fair and it will again be held at the Pagosa Springs High School from 7 a.m. to noon.
The cost of screenings remains unchanged: blood chemistry screening — $30; Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) screening — $25; blood count screening — $15; and the colon cancer screening kit is $20. This set of screenings is one of the best investments that can be made in preventative health care.
Many free health screenings will also be available, for example, finger stick glucose screening, oral, hearing and vision screening, and many more. In addition, at least a dozen interactive education centers will offer participants valuable and free health information.
9Health Fair promotes health awareness and encourages individuals to assume responsibility for their own health. At least 200 volunteers will be on hand to bring this event to our community, and the community cannot afford to miss it.
For the second year, 9Health Fair staff is proud to announce that Bank of Colorado will assume the role of primary sponsor of the event.
This year introduces a new site coordinator, LaQuita Johnson, who hails from Oakdale, La. As a retired hospital CEO, LaQuita’s interest in health care is longstanding, as is her volunteer activity. LaQuita participated in the fair last year and came away quite impressed with the turnout and the size of the volunteer base. This year, she has already begun to bring the volunteers together to start planning for a successful 2009 9Health Fair.
