Town Tourism Committee launches Internet video contest

Taking advantage of “new technologies” such as YouTube, Facebook and MySpace, the Pagosa Springs Town Tourism Committee has launched an Internet video contest, soliciting videos that show the best the Pagosa Area has to offer.

“Launching a video contest is a way to drive interest to our Web site,” said TTC Coordinator Jennifer Green. “We’re trying to reach out on line and move stronger on new technologies.”

Green added that the TTC is “hoping to reach a new demographic,” and that the current campaign would be “branding out to college newspapers around the country.”

Contest entries can be uploaded to, with a contest deadline of April 15 and winners announced on May 15. However, the TTC has said the contest will be ongoing, with contests run throughout the year.

Contest winners could win passes for a weekend at Hart’s Rocky Mountain Retreat, Elkwood Manor, and Be Our Guest Bed and Breakfast, as well as massages, hot springs passes and dinners. Winning videos will also be posted on the town’s tourism website.

Green stated that she hoped contest entrants would also post their videos on the Facebook and/or MySpace pages which would hopefully generate interest in the area from visitors to those pages — an ongoing “viral” video campaign.

Further information about the contest is also located at the TTC Web site,
