Ceramics and printmaking workshops at SHY RABBIT

SHY RABBIT Contemporary Arts has just added new March and April sessions of its popular Introductory Printmaking without a Press I and Basic Ceramic Techniques and Hand-Building I workshops.

Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity, as class sizes are kept small to provide individualized attention and will fill quickly.

Workshops are held in one of two spacious 1,000 square-foot mixed media studios, and are instructed by professional artist, D. Michael Coffee.

For additional information on Coffee, visit www.dmcarts.com.

Printmaking without a Press I is a two-day introductory workshop utilizing a unique hand-pressed printing process called ”Reductive Ink,”™ designed and developed by Coffee over the course of 20 years.

This workshop is high in content and uses inexpensive, low-tech materials that can be easily used in a home studio environment. It is designed for those with or without printmaking experience, and for those that simply want to explore and expand upon their creativity.

This workshop will run from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, March 28-29. The workshop fee is $215, and includes all course materials.

If you are interested in working in clay, but have little or no experience with the medium, then Basic Ceramic Techniques and Hand-Building I is the course for you. This two-day workshop will acquaint students with the clay forming process, and will also cover basic glazing procedures.

This class will run from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, April 4-5. The workshop fee is $215, and includes all materials, glazes, firings, and a tool-kit that participants may keep for future use.

Beginners and those with no experience are encouraged to take this class. Those with clay experience will benefit from learning and practicing unique techniques developed over the course of more than 15 years by workshop instructor, D. Michael Coffee.

This introductory workshop focuses on hand forming, texturing, and assembling clay, all without the use of a potter’s wheel or other equipment. Students are introduced to coil, pinch, and slab methods of construction.
