Join Aunt Hilda and Uncle Henry at ‘One Big Family’ dinner and auction

Have you ever been to a family dinner with your favorite Aunt Hilda or Uncle Henry?

Remember how fun and helpful they were — serving dinner and always laughing at your jokes? Well, you’ll find lots of Aunt Hildas and Uncle Henrys at the “One Big Family” Dinner and Silent Auction benefitting Seeds of Learning. The adult family fun will begin at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, April 18, in the Pagosa Springs Community Center.

Many of the volunteers who will serve your dinner, pour your wine and package your silent auction purchase will be friends, neighbors and Pagosa folks you do business and socialize with. Seeds of Learning, like many non-profit organizations in Pagosa, could not hold vital fund-raising events without the help of their many willing volunteers. From the board of directors to the event committee members to the volunteers cheerfully clearing your dishes from the table, they donate extraordinary hours of their time and buckets of energy to help the children at Seeds. In past years, they have been called upon to carefully wrap beautiful dishes, serve plates of food without spilling and even march to music while wearing ant antenna headbands. All of this has always been accomplished with a sense of humor, style and good will. Many of the volunteers help because they know what the research shows: High quality early education in centers, homes and schools can make a difference in children’s healthy development and learning so that they are ready for school and beyond.

This year, volunteers will bring steaming platters and bowls of food to your table, where you will join with other guests in a family-style meal. They will help you with a glass of wine or a beer. If you are the lucky winner of a creative table setting in the silent auction they will carefully box it for you to take home.

Like Aunt Hilda and Uncle Henry, they come back year after year to help make the event enjoyable for you. Don’t miss seeing the best of Pagosa — the volunteers who make this community hum.

Tickets for the event are $35 and can be purchased at the Chamber, Switchback Mountain Wear and Seeds of Learning.
