Valentine’s Day started out very snowy and cold. It looked like a blizzard out there; I was not sure if I was going to make it to the center, or not. I still had to pick up some last-minute things from the store for our Valentine’s Day dance at the center. As always, even though I had spent about two hours at the store, I still forgot something … and I had a list.
Well, it was a fun evening at the center for Valentine’s Day. I want to thank everyone for supporting the center and the American Southwest. Red Cross Chapter. I hope everyone out there was able to spend the evening with their loved ones, and hope you made this Valentine’s Day one to remember.
There still our some great things going on at the center. The NRA will be having their dinner and auction, 5:30-11:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21.
You can get applications for the Spring Rummage Sale and the Arts and Craft Show at the center, 8 a.m-5 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m-4 p.m. Saturday.
The Power of Positive Thinking. This Richwiser Course, presented by Richard Reed, will be held at the community center, The course will touch on subjects such as stress, healthy habits, positive thinking, and the other distractions we deal with on a daily basis. Evening Yoga Class. The center is sponsoring an evening yoga class; Sherry is the instructor. The class is, held Mondays and Wednesdays, 5:15-6:30 p.m. If you have any questions, call the center, 264-4152.
Mandarin Chinese. Are you interested in learning Mandarin Chinese? We will provide a class on March 28, 1-3 p.m. Classes are free.
Cancer Support Group. If you are interested in becoming part of a cancer support group that would include cancer survivors as well as family and friends of people who are or have been impacted by this devastating disease —in order to share common experiences, valuable information and fellowship — contact Howard Gross at, 264-5100. By meeting monthly, we can help one another in overcoming the feelings of isolation and despair that sometimes accompanies a diagnosis of cancer, offering each other encouragement and hope in battling this disease and its aftermath.
Preschooler’s playgroup. The center is supporting Pagosa’s preschoolers by providing use of the gym on Thursday mornings from, 10 a.m-Noon. Bring clean shoes with non-marking soles, as well as balls, ride-on toys and bikes with clean tires. A parent or guardian needs to stay, so no drop-offs please. Couples and Line Dancing Class. Come dance with us Mondays: couples, 9 a.m, line dancing, 10:15 a.m.
Indoor Soccer. We will begin a full schedule Feb. 28, 10 a.m-noon. Indoor soccer will be played on Saturdays through March or April (depending on weather). If we get more interest from players junior high age and older, we will set up additional time for play. Give us a call if you are interested. There will be no soccer on Feb. 14 and 21. Yoga. Join our class in the gym every Tuesday, 10-11:30 a.m. Bring a mat or thick towel, that’s all it takes.
Weight Watchers. Free registration. Control your weight. Meetings are Wednesdays, 5-6 p.m.

Scrapbook Club. Meets the second Saturday of the month fro, 10 a.m-3 p.m. in the North Conference Room. Free to anyone who wants to attend. All participants are asked to bring some kind of snack or munchies to share, drinks are provided. Please bring your own scrapbooking supplies — paper, adhesive, and any embellishments.
