‘One Big Family’ dinner and silent auction

Seeds of Learning Early Care and Education Center is busy planning “One Big Family” dinner and silent auction.

On Saturday, April 18, this event will celebrate the spirit of our community working together like a family to benefit all. Join us for an adult affair featuring a family-style dinner, silent auction of table settings everyone can appreciate and “very little” entertainment.

The funds raised will benefit the education of low-income children, giving them the chance they deserve to break the cycle of poverty, drugs and crime. Paying for early childhood education is solely the responsibility of parents whereas kindergarten through 12th grade, in the public school system, is paid for through taxes. Seeds of Learning receives no funding from federal, state or local governments and must raise over $125,000 to educate each enrolled child. Supporting Seeds of Learning helps 60 local families obtain critical education for their preschooler while allowing parents to work, pay taxes, support local businesses and complete the circle of Pagosa community.

The new school building is completely paid for; now the challenge is to pay for expenses like daily lunches, educational and art supplies and continuing education for the teachers. Pagosa has a long and special history of community caring and we all have more work to do. These children will not wait to grow up. Please save the date and plan to join us for this very special evening of fun, family and friendship. Tickets will be $35 per person and are available at the Chamber of Commerce, Switchback Mountain Wear and Seeds of Learning (take a tour while you’re there).
