One-car thrill ride hits the road

As this new year gets on its way, the roads out there are icy, days are bright, with blue skies and cold. And the nights even colder.

I want to thank all the guys out there keeping our roads clean; it’s white knuckle driving for me, so a big “thank you.”

I’m getting better, but sliding in a one-ton vehicle like in a Tilt-A-Whirl carnival ride is not how I would like to make my way to work every day. I would also like to thank all of you that have kept your distance, and have left this one-car thrill ride alone.

Be safe out there.

Free programs

Free programs, that’s what we are looking for. Maybe a book club, a dining adventure night (show a film on a country or state, and dine on its cuisine). I know you have more ideas, let me hear from you. Give me a call, and I’ll see what we can get started on. Call Michelle at 264-4152.

Remember you can play basketball at the center. We do have some regularly scheduled events, but call the center to get a schedule of open hours.

We also have a computer lab at the center. All you have to do is fill out our short form, pay a one-time fee of $5. The lab is open to the public, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday- Friday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday.

If a shower is what you need, you can come to the center and take one for $4. We do not supply any soap or towels, but you are guaranteed a hot shower. You are able to take showers during center hours.

At the center

Preschooler’s playgroup. The community center is supporting Pagosa’s preschoolers by providing use of the gym on Thursday mornings from 10 a.m-noon. Bring clean shoes with non-marking soles, as well as balls, ride-on toys and bikes with clean tires. A parent or guardian needs to stay, so no drop-offs, please. This is a great opportunity for both kids and adults as the weather gets colder. Contact Gwen Taylor with questions or suggestions at 731-0305

Couples and line dancing. Please note winter time changes: 9:15 a.m. Couples and 10:15 a.m. line dancing. Newcomers are especially welcome with the new year. We will have special teachers just for you. Good exercise, good fun and good people. Come join us. Call Gerry at 731-9734 for more information.
