As the snow falls and falls and falls, I am reminded of a line from a hymn: “In the cold and snow of winter there’s a spring that waits to be.”
The hymn is “Hymn of Promise.” It tells of hope for the future.
That is what our upcoming Job Fair is about — hope for the future.
The Job Fair has now grown into Job Fair Plus.
Following last week’s article in The SUN, I received phone calls that extended the venture beyond that of simply offering jobs. Local banks, CPAs and other financial people stepped forward to offer help on such things as income tax preparation, just-before-too-late mortgage and foreclosure advice, and preparing and living within a budget.
The Ruby Sisson Library will make books on resumé writing and interview preparation available, as well as other books to help readers search for a better employment opportunity.
Archuleta School District 50 Jt. will have a representative available to inform those who might want to seek employment as a substitute teacher, a bus driver, in food service or as an aide.
These are just a few of the opportunities that will be available at the Job Fair Plus to be held 1-5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, at the Pagosa Springs Community Center.
