Cody Matthew England, beloved son of Kirk D. and Joelle Barker England passed away Dec. 14, 2008, at his parent’s home in Pagosa Springs, Colo. He was born Dec. 10, 1986, in Orange Park, Florida. He is survived by his parents of Pagosa Springs; a brother, Paul D. and his wife Nora S. England of Durango; Grandmother Margaret V. England of Peoria, Ill.; Grandmother Brozena D. Barker of Cut Off, La. and a host of wonderful aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather Paul D. England of Peoria, Ill., and his grandfather Warren S. Barker of Cut Off, La.
After his birth he lived in Middleburg, Fla. for five years. In 1992 he moved to Germantown Hills and attended Germantown Hills Elementary and Middle School, Metamora Township High School, where he played on the Redbird football team. He moved to Pagosa Springs in 2006 and worked at Pagosa Springs Office Supply before attending the 2008 fall semester at Fort Lewis College in Durango. During his spare time he helped out his parents with their home and property in the San Juan Mountains. He loved the outdoors and, as often as he could, would hike to Opal Lake and explore the forests and the meadows of the mountains. He will be remembered most for his love of animals, his ready smile and great sense of humor.
A visitation will be held at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Larose, La., on Saturday Dec. 20, from 10 to 11 a.m., with a memorial service immediately following. On Monday, Dec. 22, a visitation will be held at Wright and Salmon Mortuary 2416 N. North St. in Peoria, Ill. from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a memorial service and the placement of his cremains at Swan Lake Cemetery.
