On Sunday, Dec. 14, the Pagosah Unitarian Universalist Fellowship service topic will be “A Mixture of Water and Hope,” presented by Pagosans Ray and Teddy Finney.
Ray is the president of the board of El Porvenir, an organization which supports self–help community–initiated water, sanitation and reforestation projects in Nicaragua. He points out that “El Porvenir means ‘the future,’ and clean water means a healthier future for Nicaraguan children.”
Following his stint in the navy, Ray has built a career in the affordable housing field. His wife, Teddy, is an early childhood educator, and was instrumental in the founding of Pagosa’s Seeds of Learning. She is still a member of its board of directors.
The childen’s program will celebrate Santa Lucia Day. From the Scandinavian countries of the far North comes the observance of Lucia Day, which honors the light and Santa Lucia, an early Christian saint who helped the poor. We’ll share gingerbread cookies, and discuss ways we can spread our light and good cheer to others.
The service begins at 10:30 a.m. in the Pagosah Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Hall, Unit B-15, Greenbriar Plaza. Turn east on Greenbrier Drive off of North Pagosa Boulevard by the Fire Station, then left into the back parking lot and look for the big sign. All are welcome.
