With construction of a new building well underway, members of the Pagosa Bible Church have set the goal to enter their own church facility in October of 2009.
The nine-year-old congregation’s new facility will be located at 209 Harman Park Drive, near the Wells Fargo Bank.
When complete, the new, single-story church will contain 3,800 square feet of space and will seat 300 people, according to Pastor Tom Osborne. The property includes three acres.
A steel frame for the new church was erected in November. Construction of the facility began in October, with Manny Medina as general contractor. Medina is a church member.
“The facility will have the potential to expand,” the pastor said. “People have donated some construction machinery. Also, church members skilled in electrical and plumbing work will help.”
Total cost of the new church will be $1.5 million.
The church currently has 80 members. Currently the church congregation worships at 8:30 a.m. each Sunday in the Mountain Heights Baptist Church on Park Avenue.
