The Pagosa Piecemakers Quilt Guild will hold its regular meeting on Dec.13. This meeting will be a Christmas party, with food and games. New guild officers will begin their terms of office with this meeting.
Margaret Darling will lead the guild in a game. If you wish to participate in this game, you will need to bring a half dozen 5-inch squares of fabric. These can be all the same fabric, or a variety of fabrics. (Note: this is the size of the fabric swatches sold in “Charm Packs.”) You may be lucky and go home with more squares than you came with!
The Pagosa Piecemakers will also be starting its biannual challenge quilt at this meeting. This year is an “Ugly Fabric Challenge,” organized by incoming president Helen Bartlett. If you would like to take part in the ugly fabric swap and challenge, here is what you need to do: Bring your “ugly” fabric, either a fat quarter or a true quarter yard to this meeting. Cut off a corner about 1 1/2-inch square and pin it to the fabric. The small piece is to be turned in at the meeting by the person receiving the fabric. If possible, bring the fabric in a small brown paper bag. If you don’t have one, you can get one from Helen Bartlett at the meeting. The “rules” will be distributed at the meeting. The guild anticipates fun doing this challenge, and proving there is no such thing as a truly ugly fabric.
The guild will also celebrate with a potluck luncheon. Members are encouraged to bring a dish to share. The guild will provide plates and silverware.
Anyone is welcome to attend this meeting and join in the fun. Festivities start at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13, at the Mountain Heights Baptist Church on Park Avenue.
