Community Choir performs this weekend

This is it!

The final touches are complete and the Community Choir is ready and anxious to share with you the special and magical Christmas concert.

Performances are Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m. in the high school auditorium. The concert is free, a gift to the community from the choir.

Special attention has been given by Larry Elginer, director, to a broad range of variety in Christmas carols for this program. One in particular, the French carol, “Fum, Fum, Fum,” will be enhanced by Lisa Hartley performing on the clarinet. The runs and trills of the clarinet provide the perfect finish to this fun piece.

“African Star Carol,” upon request, is a powerful Christmas carol featuring D’Ann Artis and Roger Jensen as soloist. This particular piece was performed several years ago, at Christmas, and was requested to be repeated.

Mathew Brunson’s interpretation of “All is Calm” is breathtaking. There is no question of his intense desire to deliver the message of this song. The emotions swell to a peak allowing Venita Burch, pianist, to deviate from the written score of notes, and insert her special gift of improvisation. Between these two and the choir, this piece will move your spirit to soar.

This concert series is a must to be placed in your Christmas happenings calendar this weekend. The Community Choir, 70 members strong, is a collection of local characters who love music and enjoy singing together, especially this time of the year.

This concert will lift your heart and spirit; you are in store for a real treat. This is a guarantee.

We are looking forward to seeing you at the performances. We know you will be blessed.
