First-ever Pagosa Springs Intermediate School Spirit Assembly

Congratulations to Davis’ Dynamite Donkeys — Mrs. Davis’ sixth-grade class, which swept the honors at the first-ever Pagosa Springs Intermediate School Spirit Assembly last week.

The assembly was designed to promote school pride, celebrate honor roll achievements, present kindness and courage awards, and recognize perfect attendance and team spirit.

In preparation for the assembly, each homeroom created a team name, picked a mascot and chose a class color. They then worked on chants, marches and classroom banners.

Teams earned points for students receiving awards and honors, as well as for competitions, team spirit and sportsmanship.

Two students from each class team were chosen to participate in turkey gobble and turkey strut competitions.

The objective at the assembly was to give all students the opportunity to compete and have fun as part of a team, as well as receive individual recognition for academics, attendance, character and even turkey impersonations.

The first-quarter Spirit Assembly was a huge success and all our teams need recognition for their outstanding efforts and sportsmanship. The teams were: Ash’s Army, Hagman’s Heroes, Halverson’s Hornets, Kay’s Kangaroos, Davis’ Dynamite Donkeys, Hunts’ Ketchups, Mymern’s Menagerie, Schenk’s Skullz, and Skoglund’s Scalawags.
