Let’s Dance to review year’s dances in December

Let’s Dance classes in December will be reviews of the most popular dances we have worked on this year.

It is important to note that these are review classes for those who have already taken classes in the dances being reviewed, at the levels being taught. There will not be any time available to spend with students who have not taken the appropriate classes.

Beginning level reviews will be held on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 7:50 p.m. and Sundays from 2:30 to 4 p.m.

Intermediate level reviews will be held Tuesdays from 8 to 9:20 p.m. and Sundays from 4: to 5:30 p.m. The Sundays sessions will be review classes and not our usual practice sessions, so it is important to attend the Sunday classes as well as the Tuesday classes. We will not be having our usual last-Wednesday-of-the-month CD dance party this month because of the holidays. Feel free to bring your own refreshments to the sessions. December will be one long party.

The classes will be: Tuesday, Dec. 2, Beginning Night Club Two-step and Intermediate Night Club Two-step; Sunday, Dec. 7, Beginning Waltz and Intermediate Waltz; Tuesday, Dec. 9, Beginning Country Western Swing and Intermediate East Coast Swing; Sunday, Dec. 14, Beginning Rumba and Intermediate Rumba; Tuesday, Dec. 16, Beginning Foxtrot and Intermediate Foxtrot; Sunday, Dec. 21, Beginning West Coast Swing and Intermediate West Coast Swing; Tuesday, Dec. 23, Beginning Cha Cha and Intermediate Cha Cha.

Classes cost $20 per person for the month, which includes all classes. If you are unsure if you want to sign up for the whole month, or know you will not attend some of the classes, you may also pay by the class at $5 per person per class.

If you plan to attend at least four classes, it would be worthwhile to pay for the entire month.

All Let’s Dance sessions with the exception of Dec. 9 and 14 will meet at the PLPOA Clubhouse, 230 Port Ave. The Dec. 9 and 14 sessions will meet elsewhere, possibly at Chavolo’s, located on Piedra Road. The final decision on the alternate location will be announced by Dec. 7.

If you have not received notice prior to class time, contact Deb at 731-3338 for the location. There is no need to pre-register but please arrive 10 minutes early to register. Classes must start on time because we are holding two classes each date. Although it is helpful to register with a partner, it is not necessary as there is usually a close match between men and women and we will rotate dance partners during the evening. Wear comfortable clothing and well-fitting shoes that have smooth or split leather soles, something that won’t leave black marks or mud. Shoes with rubber soles or lugs are inappropriate and difficult to dance in.
